Discover the details of our latest releases below and learn what’s coming next quarter!
Boosting flexibility with custom fields
We made your workflows more flexible in 2024 by adding custom fields to invoices and expenses, and adding the ability to filter, group, and show custom fields for project, project budget, and timecode on additional screens.
We’ve continued to build on this flexibility in 2025, adding custom fields on contacts in February.
Custom fields on contacts
You can now add custom fields to contacts. Add a new custom field via Settings > Custom Fields.
These custom fields can be shown as columns, filters, and groups on a variety of list screens to make it easier to view your contacts and time entries as required - saving you time when you’re looking for important information in the system!
Additionally, MergeFields can be created for your contact custom fields, so that they can be added to your invoice, invoice breakdown, and quote templates.

Audit records
It’s important to know what, when, and by whom changes are made to your projects and associated records in Projectworks.

Our new audit record functionality allows you to pull audit records using Microsoft Power BI for:
- time entries
- timesheets
- projects
- leave requests
- invoices
- invoice payments

Get important insights faster
In March, we also optimized the performance of the Project WIP and Budget WIP reports.
This improvement won’t change the information in the reports, but if they contain a lot of information, you may notice that they load more quickly - so you can get the data you need and move on with your day.
Updated revenue calculation in people margin reporting
Based on your feedback, we’ve also added a new revenue calculation for people margin reporting, so that you can choose to include or exclude non-billable hours × rate.
Previously, there was no option to exclude the burn rate of non-billable time worked on billable projects, which inflates a person’s margin. Take a deep dive into revenue calculations in Projectworks.

Keeping your data secure and accessible
To ensure Projectworks remains modern, performant, stable, and secure, we have implemented a .NET Core upgrade to the product.
Don't worry, this “under the hood” upgrade supports platform function and will not noticeably impact your user experience.
Looking ahead
We’re planning to share some major upgrades next quarter across integrations, project pricing and budgets, and reporting. Make sure you’re prepared by discovering the upcoming releases below.
Next month: Projectworks + Employment Hero

Sick of logging employee leave in multiple locations?
Getting taken by surprise by leave that was requested but not recorded in your project management software?
Dealing with the fallout of inaccurately resourced projects?
In April, we’re looking forward to adding popular people management solution, Employment Hero, to our stable of native integrations.
Employment Hero’s HR platform allows global businesses to manage their people in one place. Our new native integration will connect Projectworks and Employment Hero, allowing you to effortlessly track employee leave logged in Employment Hero, without manually handling the data in Projectworks.

We're upgrading how you price projects and build budgets in Projectworks. You can expect to see these changes roll out in Q2 (April - June 2025).
